About
Currently Dr.Girish Mahajan is working with HiMedia laboratories as Executive Vice President-Microbiology division. Prior to it he was associated with Piramal Enterprises, OmniActive Healthcare technologies, unilever, Hoechst, and Johnson & Johnson. He is an active member and mentor of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Microbiological society, India (MSI) & Association of Microbiologists in India (AMI), member of Special Scientific and Technical Appraisal and Advisory Group (STAG) on Marine Bioresource and Biotechnology Network-By Government of India, member of the Board of studies and visiting faculty of various premier schools of biotechnology & Microbiology, Alumni of ICT, also on the editorial and reviewer board for 6 international journals. He has 20 patents, 145 scientific publications, book chapters/media publications/posters/, many national & international collaborations/joint venture coordination experiences to his credit. His core expertise has been drug discovery and development from microbes, Commercialization of research projects, Collaborations, Branding etc. He has discovered many bioactive new chemical entities (NCEs) and repurposing of some known drugs. He has been an excellent career guidance coach, in the areas of Microbiology, biotechnology, and careers. He was on Panel of Judges of the American Society of Microbiology’s (ASM’s) Agar Art competition-2020.
He has been honored with several prestigious national awards, to name a few ”Distinguished Industrial Microbiologists Award-2020” by Microbiologists Society-India, “AMI-Louis Pasteur Award”, “OPPI Scientist Award” by Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India, "ISCB award of appreciation for Industry Scientist, in the area of Drug Research" by Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists, “Eminent Biotechnologist-2010” and “ICT- Lupin Visiting Fellowships for Bioprocess Technology: 2011-2012” by ICT.
Currently, at HiMedia he is a key team member in the Research & innovations contributing to HiMedia’s mission of providing research-based quality products to the world.
