About

Dr. Gurdeep Singh is an internationally acknowledged, inquisitive inventor and academic researcher. He previously worked as an Assistant Professor (Mechanical Engineering) as a Permanent Central Government Employee for six years at Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), Agra, Uttar Pradesh (2 August 2011 - 10 November 2017), before resigning to pursue full-time doctoral studies at IIT Guwahati's Design Department.

In January 2018, he began his doctoral research at the Ergonomics Laboratory, Department of Design (DoD), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. He successfully defended his thesis on the research topic 'Innovative Design Interventions to Address Safety-related Issues in FMCG Industrial Shopfloor: Ergonomics Perspective' in October 2024. His six-year-long study odyssey earned him multiple international awards, including the IEA Kingfar Award, HFES's Alexander C. Williams, Jr. Design Award, CIEHF's Innovation Award, and the Don Norman Design Award, among others. His study on creative industrial product design resulted in seven utility patents, including those in the United States and Australia. Four Indian designs were registered in his name.

Aside from his PhD study, he has actively participated in various intellectual activities, exhibiting a strong interest in research, innovation, and industrial product design and development. He holds 128 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) stemming from his inventive achievements, comprising 112 Granted Designs and 12 Patents.

His research areas of interest include Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Human Factors, Ergonomics, Industrial Design, Design and Innovation, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Theology.

He serves as an Editorial Board Member in the prestigious journals, viz. 1) Human Factors in Healthcare Journal, Elsevier; 2) Journal of College Science Teaching (JCST), Taylor & Francis; 3) WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabilitation, SAGE Journals; and 4) TechDesign Journal, CoSci Press, Singapore.

He is now preparing to embark on his second academic innings in the following days.
