About
Unveiling the Promise of Carbon Dots as Therapeutics:
Driven by a deep fascination with the potential of nanotechnology in healthcare, I, Dr. Kumar Sagar Jaiswal, My doctoral journey, guided by the esteemed Dr. Bhawna Gupta at the School of Biotechnology, KIIT University, India, revolved around a singular passion: "Carbon Dots: A shift in paradigm of nanotherapeutics."
Having delved into the wondrous world of carbon dots and their potential as diagnostic and therapeutic tools across diverse disease models, my curiosity now yearns to explore their real-world applications and pave the path for clinical trials. Witnessing the remarkable emergence of carbon dots as precise drug delivery vehicles, targeting specific organelles and biomolecules with their unique size, properties, and fluorescence, has only fueled my enthusiasm.
Furthermore, understanding the delicate balance between the beneficial and toxicological impact of carbon dots in biological systems forms another crucial aspect of my research aspirations. During my doctoral research, I successfully navigated the promising path of exploring the biocompatibility of anti-inflammatory fluorescent carbon dots, their ability to target cancer cell mitochondria, and their potential in preventing protein aggregation – all of which have equipped me with a solid foundation for translational research approaches.
