Dr. S. S. Mishra, Presently working as Principal Scientist & Head, Fish Health Management Division of ICAR - Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kausalyaganaga, Bhubaneswar – 751 002 (ODISHA). He started his career as Scientist at ICAR-Central Institute of Brackish water Aquaculture, after which he joined ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore and its regional Centre at Allahabad. He has more than 25 years research experience in Fisheries Microbiology and Biotechnology. He has worked on different aspects of Fish health management and aquatic microbiology. Area of specialization includes Disease diagnosis, Molecular techniques, Nanotechnology, Bioremediation, Vaccines & immunostimulants, Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) studies. He has worked on application of molecular and immunological techniques in rapid diagnosis of fish diseases, development and application of various prophylactic and control measures for controlling production loss. Under his able guidance, different Fish disease diagnostics and Nono-products have been developed and commercialized by the team. Research work on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fish and culture systems with One-health approach being studied in detail. Surveillance of fish diseases and production loss indifferent aquaculture regions and cataloguing of various drugs and chemicals being used in aquaculture and fish diseases management being undertaken. Under is leadership, different training and skill development programmes are being organized for benefit of fish farmers and entrepreneurs and Fish health camp and awareness programmes are conducted by the team to sensitize farmers for responsible use of drugs & chemicals in aquaculture. He has more than 80 publications in National & International journal and contributed chapters for books. He has developed various training manuals and leaflets for fish farmers and entrepreneurs.
