About
Dr. Kartick Chandra Mondal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM University - AP, Amaravati.
Before joining the current affiliation, Dr. Mondal was engaged as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. With over 14 years of teaching and research experience, he has cultivated a strong academic and interdisciplinary profile focused on data mining, knowledge discovery, and bioinformatics. Dr. Mondal earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, France, where he developed novel algorithms for data mining and bioinformatics under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Pasquier. His early training and academic background in Information Technology and Computer Science (B.Tech. from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College and M.Tech. from the University of Kalyani) laid the foundation for his expertise in computational research.
Dr. Mondal’s research spans various domains, including computational biodiversity, evolutionary computation, inductive logic programming, and environmental data analysis. His postdoctoral work at Telecom Physique Strasbourg (France) involved applying relational learning techniques to ecological datasets for water quality assessment under the French National Research Agency’s FRESQUEAU project. His interdisciplinary expertise uniquely positions him to contribute to computational biodiversity and environmental sustainability through data-driven modeling and AI techniques.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, and edited volumes, with over 470 citations and an h-index of 11. Dr. Mondal has also authored a book and contributed to more than 30 book chapters, indicating his sustained scholarly contributions. His professional affiliations include memberships in ACM, IEEE, CSI, and IEI, reflecting his active engagement with global academic and professional communities.
In addition to his research, Dr. Mondal has demonstrated academic leadership through curriculum development, student mentorship, and international collaboration. He pioneered the introduction of Computational Biodiversity as a subject at Universitas Islam Indonesia and has successfully supervised a Ph.D. thesis in this emerging field. His interdisciplinary expertise bridges computer science and life sciences, and he brings both academic rigor and practical insight into biodiversity data analysis. With a strong track record of scholarly writing, including peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and a previously published monograph, Dr. Mondal is well-positioned to author a comprehensive and impactful book that integrates computational techniques with biodiversity science for a wide academic and applied audience.
