Dr. Sahil CHAUHAN
Ming Chi University of Technology, Central Pollution Control Board, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology
About
Dr. Sahil Chauhan is presently designated as a Project Scientist-I in the Water Quality Management-II (WQM-II) Division of the Central Pollution Control Board, Head Office, Delhi, where he is involved in a Pollution Inventorization, Assessment, and Surveillance (PIAS) project (NAMAMI GANGE) funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NCMG), India. He earned his doctorate from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His research focused on the area of applicability of waste agroforestry biomass-derived biochar and its functionalized forms with 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs)-based materials for antibiotic remediation, considering the overall environmental impacts associated within the system from a gate-to-gate life cycle perspective. The wide research keywords include resource recovery from waste materials, biochar quality assessment, adsorbents, circular engineering, photothermal catalysis, membrane/film fabrication, separation, and life cycle assessment.
Prior to his PhD, he obtained a Master of Technology in Environmental Engineering at the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (formerly known as the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology) in Ranchi, India, where he focused on the valorization of mixed plastic waste as a resource for the production of value-added products.
Before starting postgraduate studies, he completed his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India.
