About
Dr. Suresh H. Jangamshetti was born in a small village of Bijapur District on 28 May 1963. He completed high school, secondary and senior secondary education in Sainik School Bijapur. He obtained Electrical Engineering degree from Karnataka University Dharwad in the year 1985, M.Tech in Power Systems and Ph.D in Wind Energy from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in the years 1989 and 2000 respectively. He has 34 years of technical education, R&D and administrative experience. He is FULBRIGHT alumni – received Fulbright-Nehru visiting lecture fellowship to Dept of ECS, Michigan Technological University, Houghton during Fall 2011. He was also invited to deliver Keynote Address and a Tutorial at IASTED AsiaPES-13 conference held from 10-12 April 2013 at Phuket Thailand.
His area of research and interest are in Power Systems and Renewable Energy Systems. He has guided seven PhD scholars and three scholars are currently pursuing research. He has also guided more than 50+ UG and 40+ PG projects. He has 90+ technical publications with 913 citations having 11 h-index and 13 i-10 index. He has visited Phuket (Thailand), Michigan Tech (USA), Melbourne (Australia), SVSU (USA) and Singapore to attend conferences to present his technical findings. He is reviewer for IEEE Transaction on Energy Conversion Systems, Elsevier Energy, IASTED conferences and some reputed international journals. He has received Rs. 93+ lakhs research grant from AICTE New Delhi/ VGST Bangalore/BEC-TEQIP Phase-II/MNRES New Delhi/BVV Sangha.
He has played key role in getting R&D recognition to E&EE Department in 2003 and initiated M.Tech in Power & Energy Systems in 2006. Till date he has organized 32 AICTE/ISTE/BEC-TEQIP sponsored training programs for engineering college faculty and working professionals. Above all he has delivered more than 130+ invited talks at various national seminars, workshops and training programs. Professionally he is associated with a number of technical societies. He is Senior Member of Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) USA, Member IEEE-Power & Energy & Education Society, FIE, LMISTE, LMISWE, LMIEAE, DMKRVP and LM SVAK. Presently, he is a Past Chair, IEEE-NKSS.
Awards/Recognitions: In 1996, he was awarded “Outstanding Branch Counselor” for Asia Pacific Region. IEEE Bangalore section conferred on him “Technical Publication Award” and “Outstanding Branch Counselor” for the year 2009 & 2010 respectively. Bagalkot Lion and Lioness club honored him with “Yeomen Service Rendered in the field of Education” award for the year 2014-15. “Certificate of Appreciation” from Rotary Club Bagalkot in recognition of services to the field of education and “Lifetime achievement award” from VIFA, Chennai, for contributions to Wind Energy in 2016. “Outstanding Engineer Award” from IEEE-PES Bangalore chapter in 2017. “Best Teacher Award”, from BVV Sangha for the year 2016-17 in technical education in 2018.
