About
Prof. D.K. Singh, Ex-Head, Department of Zoology, DDU Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, U.P., India is actively engaged in the study of molluscan physiology, biochemistry and snail control for four decades. He has successfully isolated and identified pure molluscicidal compounds from more than three dozen medicinal plants and observed their mode of action on the snails at cellular level. His work is recognized internationally in the field of formulation and use of synthetic and bio-pesticides for integrated vector management. Prof. D. K. Singh has the honor to act as referee for the award of Third World Academy award sponsored by TWA, Italy. His expertization for controlling the snails has been sought by scientific bodies of Philippines and African countries. Dr. Singh has published 213 Full Research Papers (16 Review Articles) in 108 Journals of International repute. He has written two reference books and three book chapters. He has produced 27 Ph.D. He has successfully conducted 17 research projects funded by various scientific agencies UGC, CSIR, DBT, UPCST, DST and ICAR. Prof Singh is the fellow of Zoological Society of India and Academy of Environmental Biology. He is life member of National & International academic societies and editor and reviewer of various International Journals. Prof. Singh was honored to be a member of International Expert Team Network "WHO Collaborating Centre on Fascioliasis and Its Snail Vectors" (WHO CC SPA-37) with Director Parasitology WHO Prof S. Mas-Coma Velencia University Spain. His research team reported for the first time a nucleotide sequencing of Fasciola gigantica and their larva cercaria. (GenBank accession number KT149356 and KT149357 for cercaria larva and F. gigantica, respectively. Source www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/KT149357.1 and/KT149357.2).
