About

Regarding my educational qualifications, I have passed my 10th from S. D. Inter College Saharanpur and 10+2 (intermediate) from K.V.M. Inter College, Saharanpur in the first division. Hailing from an agricultural background and having an interest in the subject,
I pursued my B.Sc. in Agriculture from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, UP, in the first division and completed my M.Sc. (Ag.) degree in Horticulture from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in the first division. My research problem during M.Sc. was titled “Studies on growth and survival of stone grafts as influenced by age of seedling rootstock in mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Amrapali” which is the major fruit crop of India. The non-availability of quality planting material of desired variety in required numbers is a major hindrance to the increasing area under mango cultivation. Although inarching and veneer grafting methods are commonly used in our country, stone grafting is an easier, cheaper, and more rapid method of producing high-quality and quantity planting material in a limited time and area which makes it a very desirable grafting method for mango propagation.

I have done Ph.D. in Fruit Science from Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh in the first division. My research problem during Ph.D. was based on “Studies on replant problem in apple (Malus × domestica Borkh). Apple, as we know, is the chief fruit crop in the temperate regions of the world. The research problem is crucial because the economy of Himachal Pradesh largely depends on apple cultivation. At present, the apple replant problem is a major concern in the production of apple because apple plants complete their lifespan within 50 years. Apple orchards in Himachal Pradesh and the North Western Himalayan region planted in the late sixties have already completed their lifespan. It is high time that the old apple trees in the existing orchards are replaced with new plantations through the technique of replantation. There is an urgent need to standardize soil agro-techniques and rootstocks for replantation so that the economy of the farmers can be improved by giving a new lease of life to the dying/declining apple orchards of the state.

I have worked as a Senior Research Fellow and Research Associate under the project component, “Development of Package and Practices for High-Density Plantation on clonal rootstocks” under the World Bank Funded Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project operational in Department of Fruit Science, Dr. YSP University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan, HP. My project work aims at tackling the limitation related to the availability of land and choice of temperate fruit crops in Himachal Pradesh and focuses on developing high-density planting system with a training system and different rootstocks with a spacing which is normally understood as more number of plants per unit area in comparison to the conventional planting density, hence its significance for the fruit growers of Himachal Pradesh.

I have worked as a Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Moradabad-II, Uttar Pradesh under the University of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India.

At present, I am working as an Assistant Professor (Fruit Science) in the Department of Fruit Science, Acharya Narendra Deva University Of Agriculture And Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. Developing production technologies for temperate fruit crops under subtropical climates.
