About
Dr. Lakshminarayana Satham is a Staff Scientist at the School of Medicine, Washington University, where he leads innovative research at the interface of chemistry, molecular imaging, and biomedical science. With extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry, radiochemistry, and drug design, his interdisciplinary research focuses on the design, synthesis, and clinical translation of multimodality imaging probes, including PET tracers and fluorescence-based agents, for cancer, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neurodegenerative disorders.
He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from IIT Bombay and pursued postdoctoral research at IIT Delhi and Washington University School of Medicine, where he gained rare expertise as a PET radiochemist with GMP proficiency. His scientific contributions encompass the development of novel small molecules, radiopharmaceuticals, antioxidants, mitochondria-targeted agents, and drug delivery systems for imaging, therapeutic, and theranostic applications.
Dr. Satham has published extensively, contributed to a U.S. patent application, and played a key role in securing competitive research grants. He currently serves as Associate Editor of the American Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, Review Editor for Frontiers in Catalysis, and Guest Editor for special issues in Chemical & Biomedical Imaging and the Journal of Molecular Chemistry.
His accomplishments include the CSIR-JRF, GATE qualification, Best Presenter Award at ISRAM, a Travel Award for outstanding abstract, and selection as a finalist for the Young Investigator Award at the World Molecular Imaging Conference (WMIC). He is an active member of the ACS, SNMMI, and WMIS, and is committed to scientific innovation, mentorship, and translational research.
