About

Dr. Rajashekhar S. Laddimath is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, bringing 18 years of combined expertise across academia (15 years) and industry (3 years). Specializing in Water Resources Engineering, his core expertise spans Hydrology, Climate Change Impact Assessment, Urban Flood Risk Management, Drought Analysis, and Sustainable Water Systems. His research seamlessly integrates precision farming, resource optimization, and sustainability concepts.

Dr. Rajashekhar has published over 9 Scopus-indexed papers, 11 articles in reputed international journals, and 10 conference papers. His work in micro-irrigation and IoT-based flood detection has been officially published as patents by Intellectual Property India in 2020. In recognition of his pedagogical impact, he was honored with the Best Teacher Award for overall excellence in teaching and institutional activities by REVA University, Bengaluru, in 2020. Currently, he is guiding three Ph.D. candidates at the VTU-approved research centre at KLEIT Hubli. He has also mentored innovative student projects funded under the NAIN 2.0 scheme of the Startup Karnataka initiative and recently secured funding to conduct a FDP under VGST.

Dr. Rajashekhar lends his accreditation expertise as an National Board of Accreditation Department Advisory Committee (NBA_DAC) member, guiding engineering programs across Tier-2 cities including Bidar, Raichur, Sangli, and Karad. Instrumental in bridging academia and industry, he established the "Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Materials and Practices" in collaboration with UltraTech Cement Ltd. at KLEIT Hubli.

He frequently serves as a Resource Person for FDPs, delivering his core expertise on climate studies to fellow academicians and researchers. He was also a distinguished Panelist at the International Conference on Impacts of Climate Change on Water Management (ICWMCC 2023) at WALMI Dharwad, where he spoke on critical COP agendas, specifically focusing on Carbon and Water Footprints. Additionally, he also serves as a regular, invited Resource Person for the WRE-GoK, delivering compulsory induction training on Irrigation Water Management for newly recruited engineers at WALMI Dharwad.

As a consultant and practitioner, he has actively contributed to reservoir planning as a Hydrologist for the Government of Karnataka under various KNNL projects. His impactful work under the Hubli–Dharwad Smart City initiatives includes the design of the Rock Fill Bund at Unkal Lake and the review of construction activities at the Sub-Urban Bus Stand, significantly supporting the development of sustainable local urban infrastructure. He has served on the jury committee for the ICI-UltraTech Awards (2023) and the India Skills Regional Competition for Digital Construction in Agra (2026), evaluating advanced BIM-based workflows and AI-driven practices.

As an impactful speaker, he frequently delivers technical talks to practicing engineers and architects across Karnataka. His lectures—spanning forums by the IEI Belagavi Chapter, the Institution of Valuers & various Urban Technical Meets organized by UltraTech Cement Ltd. focus on climate-responsive infrastructure, nature-inspired engineering. He holds Life Membership in several prestigious professional bodies: (i) Indian Concrete Institute (ICI),(ii) Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, India, (iii) The International Water Association (IWA), London, United Kingdom, and (iv) Irrigation Association (IA), Falls Church, Virginia, United States.
