About
Dr Chetan Sinha is a Professor of Psychology and Education at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, India. His interdisciplinary scholarship is anchored in social and political psychology, critical psychology, education, legal socialization, identity, and power, with a strong commitment to postcolonial and decolonial perspectives. His work critically examines how psychological knowledge, educational institutions, and legal–political frameworks shape subjectivity, authority, and social inequality in contemporary societies.
Dr. Sinha is the author of Power Dynamics in Education: Shaping the Structure of School Education in India (Routledge, 2023) and the forthcoming book Transformative Social Psychology, which advances a justice-oriented and politically grounded vision of psychology in the Global South. His research has been published widely in leading interdisciplinary journals, including Integrative Psychological and Behavioural Science, History of Psychology, Polish Psychological Bulletin, Higher Education for the Future, and Human Affairs.
He has actively contributed to international academic dialogues through panel discussions, symposia, and conferences at prominent venues such as the University of Oxford (British Psychological Society – Social Psychology Conference), International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP) conferences (Montreal and Lisbon), STAR Scholars (Spain), Cheiron (USA), and the Association of Academics for Social Justice. He has also served as a panellist and organizer of symposia on critical psychology, education, populism, caste, and social change at O.P. Jindal Global University and other academic forums.
Dr. Sinha has delivered invited lectures and seminars at institutions in India, Europe, and the UK, and collaborates with the Sociocultural Psychology Lab at King’s College London. He has reviewed books for Bloomsbury, Springer, Routledge, and SAGE, and served as a peer reviewer for journals such as Social and Personality Psychology Compass, Humanistic Psychology, Human Arenas, Society, Discover Psychology, Discover Education, Global Studies of Childhood, and the International Journal of Critical Psychology, among others.
He has also contributed significantly to professional service, serving as a Member of the SPSSI Grant-in-Aid Committee and as Chairperson of the SPSSI Teaching Resources Award. Through his teaching, research, and service, Dr Sinha is committed to fostering critical, reflexive, and politically informed approaches to psychology and education, with particular attention to social justice, marginality, and institutional transformation in India and the Global South.
