About
Dr. Radhe Shyam is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), currently serving as an Assistant Professor (Grade I) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at NIT Hamirpur. He holds a Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur with a specialization in CFD, preceded by an M.Tech from IIT Roorkee and a B.Tech from IIT Bombay, reflecting a strong academic lineage from premier institutions in India.
Dr. Shyam’s primary research interests include non-Newtonian fluid dynamics, bluff body flows, nanofluids, multiphase flows, and magnetohydrodynamics, particularly in the context of transport phenomena and heat transfer. His research is both experimental and computational, with a focus on enhancing heat transfer performance in engineering systems involving complex fluids and geometries. He has successfully completed a DST-SERB-funded research project and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer and Heat Transfer.
He has guided several B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. students, with his doctoral student completing a thesis on flow over multiple corrugated cylinders in non-Newtonian fluids. He has also contributed significantly to academic infrastructure by establishing labs such as the Process Dynamics and Control Lab and Energy Technology Lab.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Shyam has organized national conferences and STTPs on CFD, AI/ML in Chemical Engineering, and bioprocesses, and is actively involved in administrative roles including Head of Department, DUGC Convener, and Skill India Nodal Officer. He is a life member of IIChE, IDA, and FIAM.
