About
I have an investigative Ph.D. in Life Sciences with hands on experience in laboratory as well as in research setups, adept with basic and advanced bioinformatics, microbiology and natural product research skills. My research interests so far have focused on exploring small molecule natural products and bioactive peptides for their value addition as important therapeutics and nutraceuticals.
My present research focuses on to investigate oral and gut microbiomes among ethnic Sikkimese population in relation to fermented food consumption and Helicobacter pylori infection (HPI). This is a retrospective and case-control study where we are looking at the diversity, composition and immunomodulatory significance of these microbiomes and associated metabolomes between freshly diagnosed HPI subjects and non-HPI controls subject to consumption of traditional fermented foods in Sikkim region.
In addition, I am interested in
• Discovering and developing microbiome derived smORF-encoded microproteins as next generation bioceuticals
• Exploring mushroom forming fungi as source of smart proteins
