I, Prof. Atal Chaudhuri, passed Higher Secondary Examination in the year 1975 securing 16th rank in Science Stream (84.5%) in the State of West Bengal. I was awarded National Scholar Certificate and Proficiency Scholarship for having rank in top 25. Next I joined Jadavpur University and received the degree of Bachelor of Electronics and Telecommunication in the year 1980 with Distinction Marks (82.5%). In the same year I joined Post Graduate Course and received Master of Electronics and Telecommunication Degree with Computer Science specialization in the year 1982 ranking 1st in the said specialization (84%). I received UNIDO fellowship in the year 1984 for visit to West German and USA for studying the state of art automation appropriate for Indian context. After returning I joined Jadavpur University as lecturer in the year 1985. Shortly I was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in the year 1989 and received my PhD (Engg.) degree in the same year. Finally I was selected to the post of Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Jadavpur University in the year 1997. I have completed 33 years of Teaching at University level and also served as Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering for two years.
I also served as Vice-Chancellor in an Odisha State Government Funded Unitary Technical University “Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology” erstwhile known as “University College of Engineering, Burla; UCE Burla”, established in the year 1956 as first engineering college of State Odisha. Now it is upgraded to one and only one unitary Technical University of Odisha in the year 2009 spread over 300 acres of land with total student strength over 6500 offering B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc., Integrated M.Tech, Integrated M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D.
I have approx. 140 publications at both National and International repute. Sixteen scholars have been awarded PhD degree, and one more is currently registered and almost ready for submission.
Having more than 33 years of teaching, administrative and research experience in a University like Jadavpur University, almost 3 years of experience as Vice-Chancellor in a renowned State University and coupled with little industrial experience with DCM Data Products and WEBEL Computers.
