About
I am a plant physiologist and crop improvement scientist with over 15 years of experience in phenotypic evaluation, disease resistance, and crop improvement. My research spans diverse crops, including Eucalyptus, Corymbia, Gmelina, tea, and banana, with a focus on optimizing biotic data delivery and developing resistance screening protocols. I currently serve as the Head of Research & Development at MIRO Forestry SL Ltd., where I lead initiatives to improve tree genetics, establish advanced propagation facilities, and implement market-driven silviculture research programs. The CSIR-Fourth Paradigm Institute, formerly the CSIR Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation (C-MMACS), Bangalore, has awarded him the SPARK (Student Programme for Advancement in Research Knowledge) grant for his PhD research.
My work has contributed to the identification of disease-resistant banana lines, the development of high-yielding tree clones, and the optimization of cloning and hydroponic technologies. Developed and validated several empirical spatial statistical models in order to better understand the relationships between climate, soil, and crop yield variability in South Indian tea cultivation. I am also a Visiting Guest Lecturer at Central University, Sierra Leone, where I share my expertise with the next generation of scientists.
My current research interests include sustainable land use planning and management, geographic information systems, digital mapping, marker-assisted selection for drought-tolerant, disease-resistant clones, and integrated forest plantation health, nutrient, and genetics management in social forestry.
