About

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. My doctoral work focuses on incentivizing smallholder farmers to adopt regenerative agricultural practices through carbon credits within the dominant rice-wheat cropping system in Northern India. The study employs an interdisciplinary methodology, integrating satellite-based remote sensing, comprehensive field surveys, and economic analyses. Specifically, my research aims to address three primary objectives: (i) to evaluate the economic costs and benefits associated with conventional practices and regenerative practices, such as direct-seeded rice with zero tillage wheat; (ii) to estimate the potential carbon credits that could be generated from such a transition; and (iii) to identify key factors and constraints influencing adoption decisions. The broader implications of my work have the potential to inform policies related to long-term food security, system productivity, India's net-zero emission commitments, and resilience against climate change impacts.

I have earned an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (2022) and completed a vocation in Foods & Nutrition during my B.Sc. at the same university (2020). For my Master’s research, I examined the dynamics and determinants of milk, meat, and egg production in India using growth functions, instability indices, and machine learning algorithms. The study provided state-specific insights into livestock production patterns, potential zones for species-specific production, and future pathways, earning me a research award and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- from NABARD, Government of India. During my Bachelor’s, I was selected under the DEFIAA Student Exchange Program, supported by the Indian Ministry of Agriculture and the French Ministry of Agriculture, for an internship on 'Food Processing and Agriculture' at Lycée de Chartres - La Saussaye.

In addition, I possess strong experience in primary data collection, survey design, secondary data collation, quantitative analysis, and machine-learning modelling. I have comprehensive firsthand experience with the entire academic writing process, having authored several publications in Scopus-indexed journals, served as a rapporteur at national-level conferences, acted as a peer reviewer for esteemed journals, and currently serve as the Production Manager for the International Journal of Space Applications.

Throughout my academic career, I have received several awards and distinctions, including (i) Vice-Chancellor’s Gold for achieving the highest GPA during my graduation; (ii) Student Excellence Award; and (iii) Smt. Saraswati Panda Award and a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- for securing the highest marks in the department. I have been selected for and successfully participated in several national-level trainings and workshops conducted by ISRO, ICAR, IIT Guwahati, Elsevier, etc., on topics such as Carbon farming principles, Climate economics and governance, Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analysis, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning systems for National Adaptation Plan.
