About
Dr. Santosh Kumar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at McMurry University. Before Joining McMurry, he worked as a Scientist at University of Wisconsin-Madison where his research interests involved CRISPRi/a-based chemical genomics to identify genes that play a role in stress fitness of bacteria and also worked on metabolic engineering for the production of bioenergy and value-added biochemicals from renewable resources e.g. lignocellulosic biomass. In his previous research, during PhD and postdoctoral research, he has studied the role and regulation of alternative sigma factors, transcription regulators, gene expression in response to various stresses (e.g. heat, photo-oxidative stress, antibiotics), regulation of biofilm formation in pathogen/non-pathogen bacteria, anti-biofilm and anti-bacterial mechanism of actions of phytochemicals to develop treatment strategies against drug resistant pathogens.
