About
Dr. Prashant Tiwari is a distinguished academician and researcher in pharmaceutical sciences with over 15 years of teaching and research experience across reputed institutions in India. He is currently serving as an Professor at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Previously, he contributed as Assistant Professor at Arka Jain University, Jamshedpur, Royal College of Pharmacy, Raipur, and School of Pharmacy, CEC, Bilaspur. He also held a prestigious Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneshwar, where he carried out advanced research in neuropharmacology and drug development.
Dr. Tiwari has successfully guided Ph.D. research scholars, with awarded theses focusing on neurodegenerative disorders and innovative drug delivery systems, particularly for Alzheimer’s disease management.
His expertise lies in neuropharmacology, nanomedicine, targeted drug delivery, artificial intelligence applications in drug development, and cancer pharmacology.
He has contributed to more than 91 peer-reviewed journal papers and proceedings, advancing pharmaceutical sciences globally.
Dr. Tiwari's work focuses on drug screening and the synthesis of coumarin and benzimidazole derivatives. His research advances brain-targeted drug delivery methods and the treatment of neuroleptic drug-induced disorders, such as hyperprolactinemia and Parkinson's disease. Notably, he developed benzimidazole derivatives as MAO-B inhibitors and investigated nanoemulsions containing Lepidium sativum oil and Muntingia calabura leaf extract for potential neuroprotective effects.
His accomplishments include authoring and editing multiple books, chapters, and patents. He is a recipient of accolades like the Dr. P. D. Patil National Award and the Young Scientist Award, among others. As a mentor, he guides M. Pharm and Ph.D. students while actively contributing to professional organizations and serving as a journal peer reviewer. His research interests span neurodegenerative diseases, drug interactions, PK/PD, and metabolic disorders.
