Dr. Rajesh Chutia is a Librarian, researcher, academic administrator, and educator with more than 15 years of professional experience in higher education, library management, research, and institutional administration. He currently serves as Librarian and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Government Model College, Borkhola, Assam, India.
He holds a PhD, M.Phil., and MLISc from Assam University, Silchar, and is also pursuing an Executive MBA. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence applications in Library and Information Science, Digital Libraries, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Knowledge Management, Digital Humanities, and User Behaviour Analytics. His doctoral research explored the application of Natural Language Processing for analysing and summarising library users' feedback.
Dr. Chutia is the proponent of the concept of "Content Harvesting," an AI driven framework aimed at enhancing the accessibility and discoverability of digital resources in library environments. His scholarly contributions include 35 research publications in journals, conference proceedings, and edited volumes. He is also the author of an undergraduate textbook, editor and co editor of academic books, and translator of three NCERT English textbooks into Assamese.
He has successfully completed a Department of Science and Technology supported innovation project on QR code based self service library systems and has presented research papers at national and international conferences, including in Taiwan. His research interests continue to focus on leveraging emerging technologies to improve information access, library services, and digital knowledge ecosystems.
Dr. Chutia is a Life Member of the Indian Library Association and the Assam College Librarians' Association, where he currently serves as Zonal Coordinator for Barak Valley and as a member of the ICT Cell. Through his contributions to teaching, research, academic leadership, and digital transformation initiatives, he continues to promote innovation and excellence in Library and Information Science and higher education.
