About

Dipakkumar Bariya is an organic chemist specializing in the design and synthesis of functional small molecules with applications spanning optoelectronics, sensing, and medicinal chemistry. He recently completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar, India, as a recipient of the prestigious DST-INSPIRE Fellowship.

His doctoral research focused on the rational design of bile acid–based conjugates and chromophore-functionalized systems, including phenothiazine, carbazole, triazole, Schiff-base, and hydrazide derivatives. His work established structure–property relationships by integrating synthetic organic chemistry with photophysical investigations such as aggregation-induced emission/enhancement (AIE/AIEE), solvatochromism, and environmental stability studies. He has also explored their applications in chemical sensing, bio-relevant systems, and supramolecular gel materials for sustainable applications.

In addition to experimental work, he has experience in computational chemistry, including DFT/TD-DFT calculations, molecular docking, and ADME analysis to support molecular design and functional insights. His research has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications, including first-author articles and reviews in internationally recognized journals.

His current research interests include the development of advanced optoelectronic materials (e.g., OLEDs and light-emitting electrochemical cells), luminescent probes for sensing and imaging, and smart functional materials for environmental and biomedical applications. He is actively seeking postdoctoral opportunities in academia or industry to further advance interdisciplinary research at the interface of organic synthesis and materials science.
