About

Dr. Sandhu is an internationally recognised multi-award-winning research leader with over 28 years’ experience in IT, and advanced expertise in Cybersecurity, Fintech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, Blockchain, Venture Capital, Data Analytics, and Digital Enterprise Innovations, that are modernising societies, economies, businesses, universities, and governments.

Dr. Sandhu’s cutting-edge research gained him international acclaim and received prestigious and competitive research grant awards (2024 & 2023), including two grants in Cybersecurity and AI, from the Australian Government to lead a world-first project aimed at preventing and detecting cybersecurity threats, and providing leadership to international universities in Cybersecurity and AI Innovations. Dr. Sandhu, who was named an Australian Principal Investigator (PI), was one of just six high-impact projects, in other was one of just twelve Australian researchers, and the only Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation project to receive this honor from the Australian government, ARCH-India, Australia India Institute, at the University of Melbourne, and the Australian Consulate-General Chennai. Other funding was awarded from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), and the Reserve Bank of India for his Fintech Innovation research in Central Bank Digital Currency, and funding from Henry Ford Health Systems USA for his research in Digital Health.

In addition, Dr. Sandhu’s research has been published in several high-ranking journals (A Rank) and at leading conferences. He serves on the board of reviewers for several top A Rank journals (e.g. International Journal of Consumer Studies, International Journal of Accounting and Information Management, Economics Letters, and several others) and is an invited Guest Editor for journals special issues in Cybersecurity and Blockchain FinTech Innovations (Guest Editor of International Journal of Accounting and Information Management, to lead the Special Issue: Blockchain and Fintech Innovation, on the invitation from the regular Editor Prof. Han Donker, Central Washington University, USA; and Guest Editor of Emerging Applications of Information Security Technology in Digital Environment).

He is the founder/Director and Chair of the Research and International Programs of the AI Hub for Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Innovation; and the Inaugural Executive Director of the AI Innovations Institute (AIII), which provides collaboration opportunities for scientists, researchers, academics, practitioners, universities, businesses, and government. He is also the Chair, of the Australia-India Cybersecurity Leaders Alliance, and Chair of the International Conference on Business Innovation Technology Startups (ICBITS 2024), AI Cybersecurity Leaders International Conference (AICLIC 2024), hosted at: San Jose State University, Silicon Valley California USA, and was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Leadership Award, and Distinguished Professor Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership contribution to promoting Australian-Indian research, teaching, and scholarly eminence in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, FinTech and Digital Innovations, and his significant international efforts in advancing Australian-Indian Governments, Universities, and Businesses collaborations. His dedication and innovative approach have significantly impacted and advanced the scientific field of business and new technological innovations. On his visit to California, he was invited to share his research with the Data Institute of the University of San Francisco (USF) and the University of California, Berkeley.

He also hosted Australia-India Cybersecurity International Symposiums at Hilton Sydney, Hilton Melbourne, Hotel Leela Palace New Delhi, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at Punjab, India, and the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), at Kerala, India. The Symposiums were attended by large numbers of senior delegates from the Australian-Indian universities, VC (PAU), PVCs, Deans, Heads, Directors of Research, Professors, Senior Ministerial Government delegations, and Industry Senior Executives from Microsoft, IBM, HCL Technologies Limited, Amazon Web Services, Ernst & Young Australia, CSIRO, ING Australia, Deloitte (San Francisco), Grant Thornton LLP, Arlington, Virginia, United States, LogRhythm, Gulf & India, Paramount Doha Qatar, VARINDIA, Former National Cyber Coordinator India, Defence Services Australia-India, Indian Administrative Services, Power Grid Corporation of India, Western Australia Police Force, IIT Delhi, Scientist G- DST India, and IWA Digital Water India.
