About
I (Dr. Muniappan Ayyanar) am working as an Assistant Professor in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Botany and Microbiology, A. Veeriya Vandayar Memorial Sri Pushpam College (Autonomous), Poondi, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, India. I had my doctoral degree in 2008 from the University of Madras, Chennai and my areas of expertise are medicinal plant systematics and ethnopharmacology. For the last twenty years, I have been actively engaged in the collection and documentation of ethnomedicinal and ethnoveterinary medicinal plants among the various tribal groups of Tamil Nadu in southern India. I was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship, Post Doctoral Fellowship, and Young Scientist by various funding agencies of Govt. of India. I have published 90 research articles in SCI, SCIE, and SCOPUS journals and contributed ten research articles as book chapters with a cumulative JCR impact factor of 256 and 6882 Google Scholar citations. I am a Life Member of the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy, Calicut, and the Society of Ethnobotanists, Lucknow. I have completed three projects as a Principal Investigator by the Govt. of India and served as Co-Principal Investigator in three Govt. funded projects in the fields of plant-based drug research. I have been figured in the World's Top 2% Influential Scientists of the World for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023.
