About
I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Alberta, Canada. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta, Canada, my research focuses on developing ultra-high-strength, lightweight high-entropy alloy (HEA) coatings for erosion-resistant, ice-phobic surfaces in high-impingement areas, such as rotary-wing blade leading edges. This project integrates advanced materials engineering with innovative cold-spray and flame-spray techniques to fabricate coatings that enhance strength, hardness, and erosion resistance while enabling anti-icing functionality through Joule heating. These coatings significantly improve blade longevity, reduce maintenance downtime, and provide durable protection against harsh environmental conditions such as sand, rain, and ice, ultimately benefiting the Canadian Armed Forces by enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility.
Previously, during my PhD at IIT Indore, my research centered on developing Co-Cr-Mo-xTi alloys and Ti-Ta-Nb-Mo-Zr HEAs using the micro-plasma arc additive manufacturing (μ-PAAM) process for potential knee implant applications. Through extensive experimentation and characterization, I optimized μ-PAAM parameters to achieve superior biocompatibility, mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and bio-tribological performance. My findings demonstrated enhanced cell viability, reduced ion release, and improved osseointegration, making these alloys promising candidates for orthopedic implants. This work also validated μ-PAAM as an efficient, eco-friendly fabrication process for next-generation biomedical materials.
