About

Dr. Baikady holds a concurrent appointment as a URC Special Post Doctoral Fellow and as a Senior Research Associate with the Department of Social Work, School of Humanities, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. His present research interests are social work education, Field Work Education, Social Problems, Social Policy, Social Change and Social Welfare, Civil Society Organization and Social Welfare, Poverty, Inequality and Welfare.
He is a recipient of the URC Special Post-Doctoral Fellowship at University of Johannesburg, South Africa (2020-2022), Golda Meir Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel (2019-2020) and Confucius Studies Understanding China Fellowship (Post-Doctoral Research) at Shandong University Peoples Republic of China (2018-2019). Dr. Baikady was one of the 20 selected candidates for the Short Term Research Award (STRA) by the Ministry of Education, Government of Taiwan and conducted research at National Chengchi University Taiwan during June- July 2018. He also received the prestigious INLAKS Foundation Research Travel Grant 2015 and Indian Council of Social Science Research, Collect Data Abroad Scholarship- 2015 for conducting my research at Shandong University, Peoples Republic of China. Dr. Baikady co-edited the Journal Special issue of ‘Social Work and Society' (published in 2020). He has a publishing contract with Routledge New York & London for publishing his Doctoral Thesis as a Volume.
Currently, Dr. Baikady is leading a research group - Global Social Work- Education, Practice, and Research (GSWEPR), commenced in October 2019, by formalizing research relationships that have taken place over +3 years. The research group brings together 6 university colleagues [South Africa, Poland, Israel, India, China and Bangladesh] partnership studies to be carried out for the next 5 years. The studies being undertaken under GSWEPR includes social work education, practice and research at both global and local context.
