About
Tharmalingam Punniyamurthy completed his graduate studies (B.Sc., M.Sc. and M.Phil) in chemistry from Bharathidasan University and Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT Kanpur. He then pursued postdoctoral research in NDSU, Kyushu University and University Montpellier. In 2001, he joined as Asst. Professor in IIT Guwahati and became HAG professor in 2015. He is visiting Professor Oxford University (2007), Kyushu University (2012) and The Scripps Research Institute San Diego (2013). He is fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences (2016), Bangalore, the National Academy of Sciences India, Allahabad (2018) and The Royal Society of Chemistry (2014). He received CRSI Bronze medal (2015), JSPS Invitation Fellowship (2011), Fulbright Fellowship (2013) and UKIERI Research Fellowship (2007). He has published 150 peer reviewed articles and the research interest is organic synthesis.
