About

Manjunatha Mahadevappa (M’04–SM’14) received the B.E. and M.Tech. degrees from the University of Mysore, India, in 1990 and 1994, and a Ph.D. degree in Bio-Medical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in 2001.
He joined Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 2001 as Post Doctoral Research Fellow. During 2004–2005, he worked as Post-Doctoral Scholar at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, USA. He is currently a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India. Dr. Mahadevappa is a senior member of the IEEE-EMBS, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), and a life member of the Biomedical Engineering Society of India. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed research papers, books, and book chapters on medical imaging and advances in therapeutic engineering. He served as the Conference Co-Chair of the IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Point-of-Care Healthcare Technologies(POCT) in 2013. He served as Chair, of IEEE Kharagpur Section in 2012 and Chair of the EMBS Chapter in 2018. His research interests include biomedical signal & image processing, bio-instrumentation and biosensors, retinal and neural prosthesis, electrical retinal stimulation, rehabilitation engineering, and bio-robotics. He served as Associate Editor (2016-2020) of the IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine.
