About
Dr. Md Salman Haydar is currently a FAPESP postdoctoral researcher at the ESALQ, University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, working on a FAPESP-funded project investigating plant drought stress tolerance in relation to phosphorus availability in the soil profile. His research focuses on soil–plant nutrient interactions and the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying crop adaptation under water-limited conditions, integrating both field and controlled-environment studies.
Prior to this, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (uniBZ), Italy, where he was involved in a European Union-funded multi-institutional project on nanoparticle-based circular economy. His work focused on developing biowaste-derived nano-hydroxyapatite fertilizers and evaluating their role in nutrient release, plant uptake, and sustainable agricultural systems.
He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Department of Botany, University of North Bengal, India. His doctoral research specialized in agricultural nanotechnology, plant physiology, and biochemistry, with a strong emphasis on developing and applying nanofertilizers to enhance crop growth and stress tolerance. His expertise includes nano–bio interactions, rhizosphere processes, and the investigation of morpho-physiological and molecular responses of plants and microorganisms to nanoparticle exposure.
Dr. Haydar has published over 33 research articles (h-index: 15; i-10 index: 20) in leading peer-reviewed journals, including those from Nature Portfolio, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), American Chemical Society (ACS), Springer, and Elsevier. He has also filed a patent related to nanofertilizer development and has reviewed more than 90 manuscripts for reputed journals such as Nature Portfolio, Springer Nature, Elsevier, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis.
His research contributions have been recognized with awards including the Best Presentation Award at the Regional Science Congress, India. Dr. Haydar welcomes collaborations on cutting-edge research in agricultural nanotechnology, plant stress physiology, soil–plant interactions and related fields. He can be reached via email at: [email protected]
