About
Dr. K. Shanmugha Rajan is an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), working at the interface of RNA biology, ribosome function, and translational regulation. He completed his PhD with Prof. Shulamit Michaeli at Bar-Ilan University, studying non-coding RNAs and RNA modifications in parasitic systems such as Trypanosoma and Leishmania. He then carried out postdoctoral research with Prof. Ada Yonath at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where he used cryo-EM to investigate how rRNA modifications influence ribosome structure and function. His research integrates biochemical and genomic approaches to understand RNA-mediated control of gene expression.
