Dr. Vijay Bhagat is Joint Director at National Institute of Public Health Training and Research, Mumbai in Central Health Services, Ministry of Health FW, Govt. of India. He completed his most of the education in Pune, including Medical Graduation (MBBS), which he persuaded in Savitribai Phule Pune University (Formerly University of Poona). Further he sharpened his clinical proficiencies at Kasturba Hospital; (Asia’s Largest Hospital for Infectious Diseases & an arm of KEM group of hospitals, Mumbai). While working in Primary Health Care services he realized the emergent need for public health expertise in India and therefore opted for Master’s degree in Community Medicine at Dr. S.C. Govt. Medical College, Nanded, in which he worked for evaluation of national programme for control of tuberculosis (TB), as Post-graduate Resident; his recommendations were further incorporated into programme policy. He is well versed with ICH-GCP, besides holding Diploma in Clinical Research; he worked as Co-Principal Investigator for DNG-10 (Dengue vaccine trial initiative by Sanofi Pasteur (I) Ltd.). He completed his Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in epidemiological modelling of Cardiovascular (CV) diseases.
Dr. Vijay is the founder member of Great Mission Group Consultancy which is a non-profit NGO; largest Indian GI filing firm & recipient of National Intellectual Property Rights award 2017. Currently he holds a copyright application on his name and a faculty in IPR for biomedical products.
He is a Medical Teacher and an Academician, before joining Govt. of India he worked as Associate Professor, PG-Guide & Examiner for Community Medicine at JN Medical College, Wardha MS. He completed Basic & Advanced course in Health Professional Education and promoted incorporation of community based teaching in medical curricula. He was invited as guest faculty in Research Methods for health professionals on several forums. He holds many scientific publications and reviewer for several national & international journals. He also worked as a Member-reviewer for funding proposals in Leprosy Research Initiative, by Netherlands Leprosy Relief.
Currently he is working as Joint Director (PH) at National Institute of Public Health Training and Research, Mumbai under the Ministry of Health FW, Govt. of India. He is providing technical and administrative support to various Govt, aided and NGOs in Prog implementation, Operational Research & Capacity Building of the Health workforce.
