About
My long-term goal has been to be a research scientist supporting either academia or industry. In recognition of my academic effort, I was awarded the prestigious Department of Biotechnology Government of India Research Fellowship. I am trained in all the laboratory techniques and procedures associated with molecular biology. During my post-doctoral training, I gained in-depth knowledge in protein degradation and protease assay. In particular, I was involved in determining
the activities of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP2) in cancer cells, Later I moved to Chicago as a research associate to study the molecular mechanisms involved in cardiac Myosin Binding ProteinC (cMyBP-C) phosphorylation-mediated degradation during myocardial infraction (MI). In particular, I was studying cMyBP-C as a potential early biomarker for MI and phosphorylation-based protein stability, normal myocardial contractility and cardio protection, using proteomics approaches, and
whole organ analysis. I was awarded the prestigious American Heart Association (AHA) postdoctoral Training grant in 2013. My grant proposal was aimed to determine the release kinetics of cMyBP-C during IR injury relative to myocardial damage and decreased contractile function in mice.
Later I had a chance to get in touch with Dr.Perundurai research which focused on translation and drug screening for Cardiomyopathy using Human iPSc and Drosophila model. Then I had an opportunity to be a part of his group to establish the Lab at OHSU Portland. My wide experience in diverse fields of research has bestowed on me the expertise to support as research head at AVN Ayurveda Formulations Pvt., Ltd. Madurai-India (an Ayurvedic Pharma Industry)
