Also known as: Gauri Ganga
IIMT University, Quantum University, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya
About
Dr. Tyagi working as an Associate Professor at Quantum University, holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. Her research focused on the medicinal properties of Ganga water. During the study, various bacteriophages were discovered in the Ganga River, which can combat microorganisms responsible for human diseases such as pneumonia, cholera, and urinary tract infections. Three host-specific bacteriophages against human enteropathogenic bacteria—Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, and Klebsiella pneumoniae—were identified. The study highlighted the unique properties of Ganga water, revealing that it contains a significantly higher proportion of organisms with antibacterial properties.
Dr. Tyagi has published numerous research papers in national and international journals, authored more than 23 book chapters, edited two books, and holds two patents. Her expertise includes PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, DNA-DNA hybridization, protein purification, cell line culture, DNA purification, protein extraction, antibacterial aminopeptides, bacteriophage isolation, water microbiology, and antimicrobial assays.
Dr. Tyagi has received the Young Women Scientist Award, Best Researcher Award, and Best Oral Presentation Award at an international conference. She holds the position of Editorial Board member and serves as a reviewer for various reputed journals.
