Reshma Rani

About

The primary research interest of Dr. ReshmaRani is Target and Fragment Based Drug Design and Drug Discovery for several metabolic cancers including Pancreatic, Breast, stomach and Head & Neck cancer via targeting cellular energetics of cancer cell vs healthy cells. She established her independent lab focuses on design and synthesis of small drug like molecules that inhibit the enzyme or proteins overexpressed in cancers, inflammation and malaria. She also design and synthesized small molecules which are potential inhibitors of human Lactate dehydrogenase enzymes (hLDH5) involved in tumor glycolysis. She has worked on synthesis of drug like molecules by microwave assisted synthesis and green chemistry. Her future research interest focuses on Target and Fragment based drug discovery, green chemistry and target based drug delivery. In addition to research, she is teaching Basic Organic Chemistry, Reaction mechanism, Chemical Biology and Bioanalytical techniques (IR, NMR, GC-Mass, FAB-MS).
