Dr. Noopur Singh is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, India. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she contributes as a Content Writer for , School of Sciences, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, supporting the development of academic learning resources in the field of genomics and bioinformatics.
Dr. Singh is actively involved in academic governance and institutional activities. She serves as a member of the Coordinating Committee and the Board of Studies (BoS) for the Centre of Genomics and Bioinformatics at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (2022–2024). Furthermore, she holds an Advisory Board position in the Academic Council of the IRADA Foundation (NGO), Gorakhpur, contributing to initiatives related to education and community development.She completed her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University and subsequently earned her Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Bioinformatics from Chaudhary Charan Singh University. During her postgraduate studies, she achieved the highest academic distinction in the university, for which she was awarded the Shriram Avtar Param Singhal Smriti Gold Medal, the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and the Vishistha Pratibha Praman Patra.
Dr. Singh is also actively engaged in scholarly publishing and peer-review activities. She serves as a Reviewer for the journal Computational Biology and Bioinformatics published by Science Publishing Group, New York, USA (2024–2027). In addition, she has reviewed manuscripts for several internationally recognized journals, including Scientific Reports, BMC Plant Biology, BMC Genomics, and Discover Plants.
In recognition of her contributions to scientific research and academia, Dr. Singh received the Young Women Scientist Award at the International Conference on Emerging Cutting-Edge Research and Innovations in Pharmaceutical, Life Science and Technology (ICERIPLST-2024) organized by Career Point School of Pharmacy, Career Point University, Kota, Rajasthan. She was also honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University for her notable achievements in research and teaching in higher education.
Beyond her teaching and research activities, Dr. Singh actively participates in extension and outreach programs. She has delivered numerous invited lectures at various Indian government institutions to promote awareness regarding the production, value addition, marketing, and consumption of millets. She has also supervised and trained several undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of bioinformatics, genomics, and computational biology, thereby contributing to the development of skilled human resources in modern biological sciences.
