I am a Senior Research Scholar from IIT Kharagpur working on an affordable rental housing model for urban migrants belonging to LIG and MIG 1. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for affordable rental housing, especially for urban migrants. This research develops a balanced stakeholder model that aligns investment viability with quality housing for tenants. Using mixed-method research and multi-stakeholder analysis, it identifies and evaluates critical success criteria and key barriers for affordable rental housing interventions. The study aims to institutionalize India's rental housing sector, transforming it into a recognized investment asset class while ensuring affordable, quality housing for urban residents.
