About
Dr. A. Anand Kumar currently serves as Vice Principal of Amrita School of Medicine. He also serves as the Head and Professor at the Department of Neurology, Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi.
Research Interest: Bio-spaciology, Cognitive Neurology, Medical Artificial Intelligence
Scientific career started with his MD research thesis on ‘Peripheral Nerve Involvement in Thrombo-Angiitis Obliterans’ in 1981. His DM research thesis was completed in 1985 titled ‘Thesis on Higher Cortical Functions in Man - A Computerised Tomography Correlation.’
His current active/completed work include 1) SEIZ - An expert system for the diagnosis of seizure disorders (a LISP-based expert system was developed at The Artificial Intelligence Lab; Electronics Research & Development Center, Trivandrum, India.) and 2) DIAGNOS - An empty shell for creating domain-specific knowledge base. SEIZ is a LISP-based expert system developed at the Artificial Intelligence Lab, Electronics Research & Development Centre, Trivandrum, India.
His current ongoing research projects include:
1) Pattern analysis of dysarthria
2) Seizure prediction by studying spatial changes
3) Oxalate in cardio-vascular disease
4) Autonomic dysfunction in critical care
5) Normative data for autonomic function parameters –priliminary step towards intelligent patient monitors
6) Brain atlasing
7) Proteiomics in demeyelinating diseases
8) Nano-drug delivery
9) Expert system for brachial plexus diagnosis and localization
