About
Dr. Nishant Kumar Singh was born in Kanpur into a renowned musical family. His father, Mr. Raj Kumar Singh, describes himself as a famous tabla artist and teacher. Nishant received his tabla education from his father and went beyond that to master it. Apart from his father, he also learned tabla from his father’s teacher, the late Rajendra Lal Srivastava. After that, he obtained his Master’s degree under the guidance of Pandit Harish Kumar Jha from C.S.J.M. University. He earned his Ph.D. from Banasthali Vidyapith Rajasthan under the supervision of Dr. Vinayak Sharma. Since 2012, he has been a B High Grade artist at All India Radio (AIR) Lucknow. He has received a Visharad degree in tabla from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai, Prabhakar in music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj, Prabhakar in vocal music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj, and a Visharad degree in sitar from Bhatkhande Music University, Lucknow. He was work as an “Assistant Professor” Music in Jagran College of Arts, science and commerce, Kanpur. Currently, he is serving as a “Tabla Accompanist” in the music department of Dayanand Girls Post Graduate College, Kanpur.
