About

I am a dedicated chemist working at the interface of nanotechnology and chemical biology. My research is at the forefront of globally competitive science advancing knowledge about nanomedicine implicated in health and infectious diseases.

I’ve always been interested in the correlation between structure and properties of molecules, their synthesis, characterization and biological activity. Therefore, as a researcher, I dedicated my efforts in the understanding of the field of nanoscale optical therapeutics with spatiotemporal precision to attenuate nano-bio interfaces, demonstration of photothermal (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for infectious diseases, breast cancer and exploring potential for advanced cutaneous wound healing applications. My research involved conceptualization, systematic planning and optimization of synthetic methodologies for polymeric and hybrid nanoparticles for delivery of medicine in controlled and targeted manner and assess their toxicity and
functionality using applied microbiology, mammalian cell culture, and in vivo experiments. Along this line, through a series of publications, my research has uncovered versatile nano photonic platforms for the exasperating fight against bacterial infections understanding biological effects of PDT and PTT at cellular and tumor microenvironment levels.
Building on my fascination with material-based therapies, my work revealed topical multimodal nanotherapeutic agents for infectious cutaneous wound repair under dual and white light irradiations with evidence of synergism and non-convergent toxicity profile, making the nanoplatform efficacious and economical. Currently, I’m working on conceptualization and fabrication of smart stimuli responsive magnetic niosomal nanocarriers for targeted delivery and programmed release of hydrophobic drugs into breast cancer cells in vitro. With experience gained through my research, I want to venture into harnessing unique therapeutic systems to address pressing biological questions and provide practical solutions for patients grappling with cancer and chronic wound inflammation.
