About
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology with over 10 years of experience in clinical diagnostics, molecular microbiology, infection control, and translational medical research. I hold a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology, with my doctoral research focused on the characterization and genotyping of aerobic bacterial isolates from diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) patients—an area of high global health relevance linking molecular microbiology with clinical care.
I completed my M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology at the Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (IIMS&R), where I was awarded the Gold Medal for academic excellence. My academic expertise includes antimicrobial resistance surveillance, molecular diagnostics, hospital infection control, and clinical microbiology, supported by extensive hands-on experience in real-time PCR, culture-based diagnostics, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and ELISA.
I have authored 17 peer-reviewed publications in reputed national and international journals, predominantly indexed in Quartile 2 (Q2), covering antimicrobial resistance, biofilm-associated infections, diabetic foot infections, and emerging therapeutic approaches. My research integrates laboratory findings with clinically relevant outcomes.
In molecular diagnostics, I have led the establishment and implementation of PCR-based workflows, including real-time PCR assays for viral pathogens such as COVID-19, HIV, HBV, HCV, and Dengue. I have also been actively involved in training healthcare professionals in advanced molecular techniques and quality-assured diagnostic practices.
My clinical laboratory experience includes bacterial and fungal diagnostics, mycobacterial detection using the BACTEC MGIT system, and automated immunoassays using the Cobas e 411 platform. I have led hospital infection control and epidemiology programs, including environmental monitoring, sterility assurance, air and water quality testing, and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
I am actively engaged in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, laboratory personnel, and healthcare staff, with an emphasis on evidence-based microbiology, infection prevention, and research-oriented learning. I also contribute to laboratory quality management systems, including ISO compliance, SOP implementation, and NABL accreditation processes.
My professional interests include antimicrobial resistance, molecular epidemiology, infection prevention, and the advancement of diagnostic microbiology through international collaboration.
