About
I am a Ph.D. Research Scholar in the Division of Virology at ICMR–National AIDS Research Institute (NARI), Pune, working under the mentorship of Dr. Anupam Mukherjee (Scientist E, Ramanujan Fellow). My doctoral research focuses on investigating the regulatory role of host cellular microRNAs in Herpes Simplex Virus-2 (HSV-2) infection, and the development of nanoparticle-based targeted delivery systems as potential antiviral therapeutics. This multidisciplinary work integrates molecular virology, RNA biology, nanomedicine, and host-pathogen interaction studies.
I hold a Master's degree in Zoology with specialization in Environmental Biology and Toxicology from the University of Calcutta (Bethune College), where I also completed my undergraduate studies with Zoology Honours. My early research included invertebrate immunology and biomarker analyses, which laid the foundation for my interest in host immunity and virus-host dynamics.
I qualified for the CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in June 2020 and was later promoted to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) during the course of my Ph.D., recognizing the progress and significance of my work.
My research contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications in international journals spanning topics such as RNA therapeutics, computational virology, and miRNA-based antiviral strategies. I am also a co-inventor on a patent titled “A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of HIV and HSV infection.”
I have been recognized and supported by several national agencies for my research contributions:
I received International Travel Support (ITS) from SERB-DST, Government of India, to present at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the American Society for Virology (ASV 2024), USA.
I was awarded the prestigious DBT-CTEP Travel Grant by the Department of Biotechnology to participate in the ncRNA 2024 Conference in Switzerland, focused on non-coding RNA-based therapeutic advancements.
I was also honored with the Best Poster Award at Anusandhan 2025, a national-level research symposium organized by Bose Institute and supported by Wiley, for my poster on miRNA-nanoparticle therapeutic approaches.
In addition to research, I am actively involved in scientific writing, conference presentations, and interdisciplinary collaborations. My long-term goal is to contribute meaningfully to the development of RNA-based antivirals and translational virology through innovative and collaborative research.
