Dr. Salman Rauoof Chalkoo completed his research work for Ph.D. from Sher - i Kashmir Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, Kashmir in the year 2006. Before completing Ph.D., he did he Masters in Fisheries Science, besides other qualifications, which include prestigious National Eligibility Test (NET), Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 2005. He also pursued Post Graduate Diploma in Inland Fisheries from Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Kolkata Centre.

Dr. Salman is presently working as Assistant Director in J&K Fisheries Department and is looking after Ganderbal District, which has been ranked as No.1 Best Performing District in PMMSY MIS portal. Dr. Salman has expertise in the field of fish pathology and aquaculture and is Editorial member of 76 Journals in India and Abroad. Away from the Discipline Dr. Salman is District Nodal Officer for One District One Product (ODOP) Scheme under Ministry of Food Processing Industry (MOFPI) and State Nodal Officer for National Surveillance Program for Aquatic Animal Diseases.
