About
I am Payel Nandi, hailing from a very beautiful green village called Karakberia in West Bengal, India. Currently, I am a Humboldt fellow at ESO, Garching. I completed my PhD thesis jointly at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, India. My research focuses on understanding the complex interplay between Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and their host galaxies through multi-wavelength observations. I utilize data from leading Indian facilities, including UVIT and HCT, as well as major international observatories such as HST, Gemini North, MaNGA, and the VLA. I received the K. D. Abhyankar Best Thesis Presentation Award from the Astronomical Society of India in 2026 for my PhD thesis, and the AstroSat Prize in 2024 for the best publication based on data from Indian space-based facilities.
