Uddalak Das
Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Visva-Bharati University
About
Mr. Uddalak Das pursued his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences from Visva-Bharati University, one of India's premier Central Universities and Institutes of National Importance. He went on to complete his postgraduate studies in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the UAS Bangalore, where he began his research career by focusing on the use of plant-based compounds in cancer treatment. During his Master's program, he collaborated with leading institutes such as NCBS Bangalore, RV College, MAHE, and JNU Delhi, with the goal of developing green therapeutics for diseases like leukemia. Following this, he served as a Junior Research Scientist at JNU, where he pursued research on colon cancer and potential therapeutic interventions. His contributions have resulted in over 20 peer-reviewed publications in reputed international journals and the filing of a patent for a novel cancer chemotherapy drug. Mr. Das is currently pursuing his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India's foremost research institution. Alongside his doctoral research, he actively collaborates with renowned organizations such as Van Andel Institute, A*STAR, NIPGR, ICGEB, and IARI, focusing on sustainable and green healthcare solutions. He is also a member of several prestigious international scientific bodies, including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR). Over the course of his academic and research career, he has been the recipient of numerous national fellowships and research grants from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, and ICAR.
