About
I want to understand the surface properties of nanoparticles, and the mechanism by which it interacts with biological macromolecules, drugs, foreign particles within the body, and aberrant cells such as tumors. My focus is on exploring the ability of nanoparticles to be biofunctionalized, and conjugated with other agents which could be yet another nanoparticles, or some polymers; eventually leading to the fine-tuning of the medicinal properties of the nanomaterials that could be employed for the discovery of efficient therapeutics and diagnostics of deadly diseases such as cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, HIV-AIDS, etc.
My ultimate goal is to employ the nanotechnology to design the state-of-the-art cancer-nanomedicines which should be highly efficient and well targeted, negligible side effects, and fall within the affordable range of underdeveloped and developing countries; and advance them to the clinical trials. Working in the domain of biomedical nanotechnology, I have successfully fabricated the negatively charged Zinc Oxide nanoparticles at the calcination temperature of 300 deg., 500 deg., and 700 deg., spectroscopically characterized them, and showed the temperature and concentration dependent influence of these nanoparticles in the fibrillation of insulin protein in- vitro via Thioflavin T assay. I also have experience in the synthesis of Iron Oxide nanoparticles [1].
Currently, I am working in the direction of constructing a nanosystem based on coating of folic acid-chitosan conjugate for the combinatorial delivery of DOX, and BRD8-protein inhibitor to treat glioblastoma associated with or without p53 mutation. I am working in close collaboration with Cell Biologist, Biophysical Chemistry lab, and Molecular Dynamics Simulation lab.
