About

Salman Khan is an analytical chemist with an MPhil in Chemistry, specializing in photocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, and catalytic materials for wastewater treatment, hydrogen production, biomass conversion, and waste valorization. His research focuses on the synthesis and functionalization of advanced catalytic and photoactive materials, photoelectrode fabrication, reactor design, and mechanistic investigation of solar-driven and electrochemical processes.
He is a Research Assistant under the NRF–SASOL collaborative program at the UNESCO–UNISA Africa Chair in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology, University of South Africa, where his work centers on microbial desalination cells coupled with reverse osmosis for energy-efficient desalination within the water–energy nexus. His responsibilities include experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and international collaboration.
Previously, he served as a Research Assistant on an NRPU-funded project at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, focusing on doped graphene oxide–TiO₂ nanocomposites for wastewater treatment and overall water splitting. In parallel, he has developed catalytic materials for biomass conversion and waste-derived resource valorization, including catalytic co-pyrolysis and waste-assisted energy processes. Salman has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and review articles and actively seeks doctoral research opportunities in sustainable catalysis and photoelectrochemical technologies.
