Basona Khatun is an Indian legal scholar and doctoral researcher specializing in sustainable solid waste management, urban governance, circular economy, environmental law, and human rights. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Law at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, focusing on the role of urban local governance in sustainable solid waste management in Kolkata. She has worked as an Assistant Professor of Law and Guest Faculty and has published research articles and book chapters with reputed academic publishers, including Springer. She has presented papers at several national and international conferences on waste governance, circular economy, sustainability, human rights, and legal reforms. She holds an LL.M. in Human Rights from the Central University of Punjab and an LL.B. from Aligarh Muslim University. She is UGC-NET and WBSET qualified and has been a UGC Fellow since October 2024.
