About
I am an environmental engineer and an "All But Dissertation" (ABD) Ph.D. Candidate in Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. My research focuses on the intersection of biological wastewater treatment and emerging contaminants, specifically investigating the "plastisphere" and how microbial communities interact with both conventional and biodegradable microplastics within biological reactors.
Supported by fellowships including the NSERC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (CGRS-D) and the Susan Mann Dissertation Scholarship, I strive to combine rigorous bioprocess engineering with a commitment to sustainable, circular-economy solutions. Before my doctoral studies, I earned an M.Tech in Bioprocess Engineering from IIT Roorkee, where I was awarded the Departmental Gold Medal, and a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University.
As I complete my doctoral studies, I'm pursuing postdoctoral fellowships and tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to build an independent research group focused on waste-to-resource technologies and advanced bioremediation strategies. Because I believe impactful research must extend beyond the academic bubble, I am equally committed to mentorship and science communication. I aim to build a collaborative lab that connects rigorous engineering with compelling public advocacy, sharing practical plans for success with the next generation of global engineers.
