About
Sunil Gentyala (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in computer science, physics, and mathematics from Kakatiya University in 2003. He is the Lead Cybersecurity and AI Security Consultant in the Enterprise Cybersecurity Division at HCLTech (HCL America Inc.), Dallas, Texas, advising Fortune 500 clients including Uber, Disney, and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. He also serves as HCLTech's designated expert representative to the Cloud Security Alliance.
His research interests include large language model (LLM) security and data loss prevention, zero-trust architecture, agentic AI system security, Model Context Protocol (MCP) supply-chain threats, Sybil attack mitigation in permissionless blockchain networks, decentralized federated learning security, and post-quantum cryptography. He is the creator of ContextGuard, a zero-trust middleware framework for MCP security, and the GSH Framework, an agentic AI threat-hunting framework mapped to MITRE ATLAS and NIST CSF 2.0.
Beyond his published IEEE conference papers, his research extends to a multi-venue submission under review at IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, ACM QSec, and Elsevier Future Generation Computer Systems ("A Post-Quantum Migration Taxonomy for Model Context Protocol"), and to "Governing Agentic AI via Model Context Protocol and COBIT 2019/NIST CSF 2.0," submitted to the ISACA Journal with co-author Praveen Kumar Mannam.
He is a BCS Fellow (British Computer Society, Experiential route) and has an IET Fellowship (FIET) application in its final stage of assessment. He is a CISM-certified practitioner and ISACA Professional Member, and holds multiple Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud certifications alongside the AWS Solutions Architect credential.
He writes on AI and application security as a #FoundryExpert contributor to CSO Online, CIO.com, and Computerworld, and has published in SC World, Cyber Defense Magazine, Dark Reading, and BiometricUpdate.com. His CSO Online article on browser zero-trust controls was adapted into a December 2025 episode of Decoded: The Cybersecurity Podcast, and his open-source AegisSwarm-Core project was cited independently on the Context Window: AI Security Podcast and in the Cloud Security Alliance's "Securing the Swarm" agentic-threat analysis. His CIO.com feature on ungoverned AI agents and his CSO Online piece on OAuth client ID spoofing have each drawn multiple independent cross-media citations and practitioner endorsements. He was awarded Bronze for Cybersecurity Professional of the Year at the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, shortlisted for Cyber Security Influencer of the Year at the Cyber Security Awards UK, and serves as an invited peer reviewer for the Cyber Defense Review at the U.S. Army Cyber Institute, West Point.
