About

My research interest include the performance enhancement of the thermoacoustic technology. In the current research work travelling wave thermoacoustic engine is developed and tested for five different wire mesh size 30, 40, 60, 70 and 80 strands/inch numerically and experimentally. The cyclic and Miyabe analysis is used to carry out the engines numerical analysis based on Stirling cycle. The maximum electric power generated at the optimum locations of the linear alternator of x = 2.32 m away from the thermoacoustic engine core at the operating frequency 78 Hz The thermo-acoustic engine generates a maximum of 44.9 W electric power with overall conversion efficiency 8.3 % for wire mesh 60 strands/inch. The challenges while doing experiment is to amplification of acoustic wave and suppression of acoustic streaming. And maintaining the phase angle as per ideal condition between pressure and velocity oscillations in the engine regenerator is very difficult task. The thermoacoustic technology has great potential to utilize the waste heat energy. This technology can be utilized to generate electricity in the rural areas, which are away from the electricity grids.
