About
As an expert in agriculture, I have extensive experience in both teaching and conducting research in agronomy, with a particular focus on crop production. My strong theoretical and practical foundation in agronomy fuels my motivation to drive agricultural innovation through the effective use of my knowledge, experience, and skills. I am deeply interested in sustainable farming, water management, and resource conservation technologies (RCTs). Currently, I am employed as a Scientist C, specializing as a Wheat Agronomist, at the prestigious MACS-Agharkar Research Institute (ARI). In this role, I primarily contribute to the ICAR Wheat project, which is part of the All India Coordinated Wheat and Barley Improvement Project. My work primarily focuses on conducting coordinated agronomical trials and station trials for wheat, utilizing available resources to enhance wheat productivity in Peninsular India. I target agronomic research on nutrient management, irrigation, growth regulators, conservation agriculture, and lodging management for Aestivum, Durum, and Dicoccum wheat. I lead wheat varietal extension programs such as Frontline Demonstrations (FLDs) and Minikit trials on farmers' fields, introducing our improved and latest wheat varieties, viz., MACS 6222, MACS 6478, MACS 3949, MACS 4028, and MACS 2971, which are gaining popularity among farmers in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Involvement in developing four excellent wheat varieties one nutrient-rich aestivum, MACS 6768, and three durum, MACS 4028, MACS 4058, and MACS 4100 were recommended for the Peninsular Zone of India. MACS 4028, MACS 4058, and MACS 6768 were designated as biofortified varieties with a high zinc and iron content; these will be helpful to the nation's efforts to combat malnutrition.
